How to Choose a Painting from EyanTrading

Measure the wall first

As a guide, a painting above a sofa or sideboard looks balanced when it covers about two-thirds of the furniture's width. In a large, empty wall, one bold piece usually works better than several small ones.

Match the mood of the room

Warm colours such as gold, red and orange feel lively and suit living and dining rooms. Blues, greens and soft neutrals feel calm and suit bedrooms and quiet study spaces.

Think about meaning

If you follow feng shui, the subject matters as much as the colour. Mountains behind your seat suggest support, water scenes suggest the flow of wealth, and horses suggest speed and success. Our feng shui collection page explains these in more detail.
